Terms of service
These terms apply when you use this site or ask Ball State Preceptor to help with a clinical placement. By using the site or our service, you agree to them. Please read them alongside your Ball State program's own requirements.

Tell us your Ball State program and where you live. A placement advisor replies with preceptor and site options in your community that fit your Ball State course.
The service
Ball State Preceptor is an independent placement service for Ball State University (Ball State) nursing students. We search for preceptors and clinical sites in a student's own community that fit the student's Ball State course, prepare preceptor and site information the student can put forward through Ball State's process, and help find a replacement if a preceptor steps away.
Ball State does not run this service, and the information on this site is not an official Ball State statement. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Ball State Preceptor, and "you" means the person using the site or the service.
Ball State's role and final approval
Ball State faculty approve every preceptor and clinical site, the School of Nursing's placement and compliance staff clear them, and Ball State gives the final approval in every case. Ball State's catalog, program handbooks, courses and faculty set the rules for your program.
Where anything on this site or in our communications differs from Ball State's current requirements, Ball State's requirements apply.
No promise of placement, approval or dates
We work hard to find a suitable preceptor and site for you. We do not promise that one will be found, that one will be found by a particular date, that Ball State will approve a site or preceptor we identify, or that you will start or finish any course or program on a particular timetable.
Preceptors and sites make their own decisions and may change or withdraw their availability at any time, including after Ball State's approval.
Your responsibilities
You remain responsible for meeting Ball State's requirements and deadlines, whether or not we are helping you. In particular, you are responsible for:
- submitting the documentation Ball State asks for, including your clinical packet paperwork, American Data Bank and CORE compliance items and any facility documents, before clinical hours begin;
- holding an active, unencumbered RN license in every state where you are licensed, and a license valid where your clinical site is;
- completing background checks, drug screens, health clearance, immunizations and any site requirements before patient contact;
- completing clinical hours as your course requires, logging them accurately and following each site's rules;
- staying in contact with your course faculty, your advisor and Ball State's Graduate Clinical Placement Coordinator;
- giving us accurate information and telling us promptly about any change.
Fees
Our fees are quoted individually, based on your program, course, location and timing, and your quote sets out what it covers. Charges made by a clinical site or other third party, and Ball State's own tuition and fees, are separate from our fee. Ball State's own requirements, such as background checks, drug testing and insurance, are separate from our fee.

Our guides summarize Ball State's public catalog, program pages, handbooks, clinical policies, Indiana rules and other official sources as of the date shown on each page. They are general information, not academic, legal or professional advice, and Ball State's rules can change. Check your course, the Nursing Grad Students Canvas Community and your advisor before relying on any detail.

Sending us your details means you consent to our contacting you about your inquiry and placement by email, phone call or text message, as our privacy policy describes. Reply STOP to any text to opt out of text messages.
Acceptable use
Please use this site for its intended purpose. Do not submit false information, misuse the forms or chat, or copy the site's content for commercial use without permission.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Ball State Preceptor is not liable for losses that arise from the decisions of Ball State, a preceptor or a clinical site, from delays in approval or course progression, or from reliance on the general information on this site. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms from time to time. Each revision carries a new date at the top of the page. Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact page or the chat.

Ball State asks you to find your preceptor. We find one near you.
Tell us your Ball State track, where you live and when your next clinical course starts. We find preceptors near you who fit the course, confirm the practice will sign Ball State's affiliation agreement, and line up a backup, so the School of Nursing can clear the site before the semester.
