How to read the state guides
Ball State's State Authorization Map sets the list. The MS in Nursing, which covers the FNP, Nurse Educator and Leadership and Management concentrations, is authorized in 26 jurisdictions counting Indiana. The post-master's FNP certificate is authorized in 9 and the DNP in 6, so a state that accepts the master's may not accept the other two. Ball State publishes no state-by-state licensure findings and tells students to ask the board of nursing where they plan to work.
Students who move, or take a travel contract, in a state where their program is not authorized cannot progress. The state authorization guide lists every program's states, and clinicals outside Indiana covers training away from home.

Why is my state missing?
Ball State's map lists 25 states where the MS in Nursing is not authorized, among them California, Texas, New York, Pennsylvania and Georgia. Its Office of State Authorizations points to state-specific licensing issues. This site covers only the places where the program is authorized.
What if I move during the program?
Ball State's program pages say students who move to a state where the master's nursing program is not authorized cannot progress. Check the map before you move, or before signing a travel nursing contract elsewhere.
Does Ball State publish whether its FNP meets my state's licensure rules?
No. Its Professional Licensure page gives general advice and suggests contacting the licensing agency in the state where you plan to work. The state guides point to each board of nursing.
Can I live in one authorized state and train in another?
Ball State's catalog asks graduate students to reside in, and complete all clinical hours in, a state where the School of Nursing is authorized. Confirm any cross-border plan with your advisor, and hold an RN license valid where you train.
